Offer Deferral

If you are enrolled in your first session and now wish to defer, you must ensure that you withdraw from your subjects via SOLS before submitting your deferral request. Failure to withdraw may result in financial penalties.

If you have just received a UAC or Early Admission offer to study at UOW and wish to defer for up to 12 months, you will need your UOW student number before you can complete this request. Your UOW student number will be sent to you via email approximately one week after you receive your offer.

Before submitting a deferral request, please be aware that:

Not all of our postgraduate courses can be deferred, particularly those with limited places and high volumes of applications. The programs that are unable to be deferred include:

  • Postgraduate degrees in Psychology, Teaching, Nutrition, or Exercise Science
  • Doctor of Medicine

Students wishing to defer their offer for the Bachelor of Nursing will require approval from the Faculty.

If you are seeking a deferral for a research degree, or if you wish to be considered for an alternative course or campus, please contact our Future Students team: FutureStudents@uow.edu.au

You can only defer your undergraduate degree for a maximum of 12 months. If you do not take up your deferred offer then you will be required to submit a new application.

If you defer your offer, you will receive a new, deferred Offer of Admission with the current year's higher fee applied. A deferral may also affect any existing student visa you currently hold.

Undergraduate degrees can only be deferred for one year. If you do not take up your deferred offer then you will be required to submit a new application. Applications to defer close on Census date of your commencing session. Check UOW's session and key dates for the relevant deadline.

UOW offers a limited number of Commonwealth supported places (CSPs) across a number of fee-paying postgraduate coursework programs to students who meet certain equity criteria. If you have received a CSP in a full-fee paying postgraduate degree, you must re-apply for a CSP if you defer.
